ASFA Digital

SEPSAMEDHA's ASFA Digital equipment (Automatic Signaling and Braking) consists of onboard equipment that controls train driving under the safety parameters established by ADIF, through a semi-continuous ATP (Automatic Train Protection) system, which provides continuous speed monitoring through the timely transmission of information via beacons.

SEPSAMEDHA's ASFA systems are installed on numerous RENFE rolling stock. Both the hardware and software are proprietary designs. SEPSAMEDHA offers system integration services for all types of railway rolling stock. The entire system operates at SIL IV.

Operation

The system processes information from the track and displays a set of instructions to the driver to alert them and facilitate the necessary actions. When the system detects that the established speed limits are not being respected, it activates the train's emergency brake, functioning in this case as an emergency safety device. The ASFA Digital System provides speed monitoring along the entire train's route, but receives this information at specific points via a system of trackside beacons.
