The 2CT MS-170F-20D auxiliary converters are specifically designed for railway vehicles operating under 1500Vdc catenaries.

The APS supplies galvanically isolated 400V@50Hz three-phase AC + neutral to the train's auxiliary loads, providing a total power of 165kVA, and to the DC loads (essential and non-essential) plus the battery charging at 110Vdc, providing a total power of 20kW. The equipment efficiency is 92% from 50% to 100% load.

The APS is installed under the rack and is naturally ventilated by heat sinks. The magnetic components are housed in an IP20 enclosure, while the remaining electronic circuitry and other power components are installed in an IP65 clean compartment.

The converter is equipped with an external 400Vac@50Hz AC workshop power supply. This module allows the battery charger and other AC loads to be powered without using the high-voltage power supply. The converter also integrates a pre-charge circuit and an input filter.
